Original poetry by Melinda, inspired by dance
The Eyes of the Stage
Without a thought to
The pointed steps
Their eyes expressing
The depth of their souls.
The outside forgotten as
The fantasy is shared.
Transparent desires
Spotlight success.
The spectators gasp as
The passion exceeds
Spinning endlessly to
The vision of glory.
Dancer with Crossed Arms
Her pale arms cross
Against her blue bodice
As she stands pensively
In the wings. The ivory
Tulle of her tutu
Matted and worn.
Who is she watching
While she waits for her
Entrance? Another Degas
Dancer floats by, performing
Her life. The thoughts
In her eyes reflect her soul…
The essence of Ballerina; fear,
Anticipation, love of stage.
An unfinished portrait,
Perfection almost achieved
As she crosses her pale arms
And waits for her dance.
