Silver Swans with Melinda: Charity Fundraisers
At least once a year, we dance to raise money for charity. This is a joyous and meaningful way to come together and help people through dance. Here is what we have raised so far:Christmas 2023 Fundraiser for MNDA:
We held another successful charity fundraiser ballet class at Studio 208, complete with tea and mince pies, on the 14th December, 2023, raising £195 in support of the Motor Neuron Disease Association.
DANCE THE GOLDEN AGE Zoom Fundraiser Success!
On the 17th July, 2023, we danced on Zoom to the music from the Golden Age of movie musicals and raised £175.00 for the Mental Health Charity, MIND! Thank you to all who donated and participated! If you would like to donate to this important charity, click here.
'SWAN LAKE AND CAKE' BALLET REPERTOIRE FUNDRAISER SUCCESS!
Raising money to support MND Association (Motor Neuron Disease) through ballet, dancing for those who are no longer able to move their bodies because of this debilitating disease.
On the 4th of August, 2022, we raise £405.00 for the MND Association! 10 adult dancers learned the 'Entrance of the Swans' from Act 2 of Swan Lake, and afterwards we enjoyed some tea and cakes and a lovely chat. In the evening, some of us danced at home over zoom to the beautiful music of Swan Lake.
24th October 2020
We had 2 very special SILVER SWANS BALLET BARRE AND PORT DE BRAS zoom classes in October 2020, and raised £425.00! This was divided between The Royal Theatrical Fund, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, and the Dance Professionals Fund, to give support to performers in the UK and USA who are struggling financially as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
There will be more fundraiser classes in the future - watch this space!

Did you know...
We love to participate in events and workshops held at the Royal Academy of Dance! In October 2023, 8 Swans performed "The Waltz of the Hours" dance from Coppelia on stage at the RAD as part of the "Silver Swans Celebration" and got to meet Angela Rippon!
The Silver Swans summer dance programme is also popular.
And sometimes, we get together socially to go and see ballet at the cinema or theatre.
